Truckee
Lined with quaint shops and restaurants, historic downtown Truckee bustles with old west charm and excitement. Both the Truckee River and Union Pacific Railroad run through the middle of town, and many original buildings from the days following the gold rush still stand. Walking to restaurants, biking to the weekly farmer’s market, rafting the Truckee River, and biking the Legacy Trail – it’s all right at your downtown doorstep.
Truckee boasts several neighborhoods, including Sierra Meadows, Prosser, and Glenshire.
Sierra Meadows: Affordable and friendly, Sierra Meadows and the Ponderosa neighborhoods are popular with full-time residents and families. Just minutes from downtown, Sierra Meadows is located right in the heart of Truckee.
The Prosser area neighborhoods – Prosser Lakeview Estates, Prosser Woods Estates, Prosser Lake Heights, Prosser Dam Road, Pannonia Ranchos, and Sugar Pine Estates – are nestled in the trees and hills above Prosser Reservoir and are popular with full-time residents and second homeowners alike. Just north of downtown Truckee, all offer easy access to the area’s ski resorts. Recreational opportunities, including mountain biking, hiking, ATV, snowmobile, and moto trails, are just steps away.
Glenshire/Devonshire has long been one of Truckee’s most popular neighborhoods for families and year-round residents, although many second homeowners also appreciate the area’s plentiful sunshine, lower snowfall, and more affordable prices. Located seven miles east of downtown, Glenshire is close to I-80 and offers easy access to Reno, the Truckee River, miles of trails, and boating on nearby reservoirs.
Numerous additional neighborhoods can be found in Truckee, each with its own charm.
