North Lake Tahoe
Comprising Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay, and Agate Bay.
Kings Beach is a local favorite for those who want to be close to Lake Tahoe. A unique, family-centric community, Kings Beach is located on the North shore of Lake Tahoe near the California-Nevada border. Centered around one of the largest sandy beaches on the lake, this vibrant, walkable community is filled with shops, restaurants, events, and activities. Its central location offers easy access to all of the area’s year-round recreation, including skiing, hiking, biking, and water sports. Tahoe City, Truckee, and Northstar are all a short drive away. Kings Beach, specifically, is one of the most affordable communities in the Tahoe area, and the majority of Kings Beach homeowners are full-time residents. Many of the homes are set on quiet, wooded streets and have a charming, “Old Tahoe” cabin feel.
The second-largest city is Carnelian Bay, steeped in boating history. Sierra Boat Company, one of the premier wooden boat builders in the country, opened here in 1952 and hosts the annual Concours d’Elegance wooden boat show each summer. Boat enthusiasts and sun seekers alike can be found sipping Wet Woodys at Garwoods Grill & Pier – a Carnelian Bay institution. Off the lake, residents enjoy the area’s close proximity to Tahoe’s premier ski resorts, beautiful beaches, and miles of trails. From “Old Tahoe”-style cabins set on quiet, wooded streets to multi-million-dollar lakefront estates, Carnelian Bay offers a variety of real estate options, all with easy access to restaurants, shopping, and world-famous mountain adventures.
